Elias, Anya, and Lena arrive on the dying world of Veridia to confront the Void-Eater. They find a landscape of ashes and a massive sentient darkness that feeds on hope. The trio attempts to heal it using memories, but the Void-Eater is too vast and ancient. Just as it begins to overwhelm them, a door opens behind them and a familiar voice offers a risky plan.
The portal spat them out onto a world that had forgotten the sun.
Veridia was a graveyard of gray ash and jagged rock. The sky was a permanent bruise of purple and black, and the air tasted like metal and grief. Elias steadied himself, his gatekeeper senses screaming warnings from every direction. The dimensional fabric here was so thin he could almost see through it—into the hungry void pressing against reality.
Anya pressed close to him, her hand finding his. "It feels... empty. Like someone scooped out all the warmth."
