Chapter 55

Chapter 55: The Star's Whisper

The group rests in the garden after their victory, but a new unease settles as the star begins to pulse with a rhythm that feels like a call. Elias senses a distant crack forming in another dimension, and the child Maker reveals that the star is a beacon for something ancient that has heard them. The chapter ends with a quiet image of the star's light touching each of them, a promise of more to come.

The garden was quiet in a way it hadn't been for what felt like ages. The grass beneath them was soft, still damp with the memory of dew, and the air carried the faint scent of flowers that hadn't bloomed yet. Anya shifted, her hand finding Elias's. “I keep expecting something to go wrong,” she murmured. “Like the sky’s going to crack open again.”
