The light swallowed Elias whole. For a moment, there was nothing but warmth—a pressure against his skin, a hum in his bones. He floated in it, weightless, the echoes of the chamber fading like a dream upon waking.
Then the light parted, and he stood in a space that was both infinite and intimate. Before him, the heart pulsed—a small, fragile sun. Beside it, the Silence loomed, a void that drank the edges of the light. And between them, the root-fragment knelt, its green form trembling, its empty eyes fixed on Elias.
"You cannot hold both," the Silence said, its voice now a whisper that scraped against his mind. "One will consume the other. That is the nature of existence."
