Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Elias, Anya, Lena, Kael, and Vesper begin the ritual to bind their memories and tell a story that can heal the Fracture. As they pour their love, pain, and truths into the light, the Fracture fights back, tearing at reality. They succeed in stabilizing it temporarily, but Kael reveals that the ritual has drawn the attention of something older and darker—the First Silence's master. The chapter ends with a new rift opening in the sky, and a voice that sounds like Elias's own, but wrong.
The light from the pool rose like a living thing, tendrils of gold and silver wrapping around their ankles, their wrists, their hearts. Anya gasped as the warmth spread through her, not painful but intimate, as if the light were reading her from the inside out. Beside her, Lena tensed, her jaw set, but she didn't pull away. Elias stood still, his eyes closed, his lips moving silently—words in a language older than any world they had visited.
Kael's voice cut through the hum. "Let the story begin with the first door."
Elias opened his eyes. They glowed, not with the dim sorrow Anya had grown used to, but with a fierce amber light. "The first door was not a door," he said. "It was a wound. A tear in the fabric of nothing, made by a being who was lonely. That being became the first gatekeeper."
