The Dying Heart
Elias, Anya, and Lena return to the crumbling golden city within the Unmaker's heart. Vesper explains that the seed of remembrance alone is not enough—the Unmaker needs a permanent anchor of love to survive. Anya proposes they merge their life forces with the Unmaker, becoming its new heart. They undergo a ritual that bonds them together and to the entity, stabilizing it. The city rebuilds itself, but Elias senses a new disturbance: the Void-Eater is beginning to break free from its prison. They prepare for a final confrontation.
The golden city was dying.
The streets that had once glowed with warm light now flickered like failing candles. Buildings crumbled silently, their stones dissolving into ash that drifted upward into a sky the color of a bruise. The air itself felt thin, as if the world was taking its last breaths.
Elias stepped through the door behind Vesper, Anya and Lena close at his sides. The key in his hand hummed with a low, mournful tone—a sound he had never heard from it before.
