Elara Vance stood before a holographic projection, the shimmering lines of a complex geometric structure swirling around her. The air in the sterile, obsidian chamber hummed with a barely perceptible energy, a testament to the advanced technology The Obscurati commanded. Her gaze, sharp and unwavering, traced the intricate pathways of the projection. It was a representation, she believed, of the very fabric of existence, a structure that Thorne, that infuriatingly brilliant Thorne, was beginning to unravel.
“He’s getting closer, isn’t he?” Her voice was a silken caress, yet it carried the cold edge of steel. Beside her, a man with sharp features and eyes that darted nervously, a subordinate named Kael, nodded.
“The intercepts suggest a significant breakthrough, Commander Vance. His recent energy signatures… they’re unlike anything we’ve cataloged.” Kael’s voice wavered slightly. He had seen the results of Vance’s… methods… when her patience wore thin.
