The park was a vibrant tapestry of greens and blues, a place Leo usually knew like the back of his hand. Today, however, felt different. It was a Saturday, the kind of Saturday that usually meant Dad would be there, maybe tossing a frisbee or pushing Leo high on the swings. But Dad was still on his long business trip, and Mom, though trying her best, seemed a little quieter these days. And then there was Mrs. Gable, who was becoming a more frequent visitor, her laughter like wind chimes in the garden, a sound that used to make Leo smile but now sometimes made his tummy feel a little tight.

They started their usual game of chase, Leo giggling as Buster weaved around his legs, his furry body a blur of motion. The sun dappled through the leaves, casting dancing shadows that looked like playful monsters. Today, with Buster as his trusty steed, he was a knight on a grand quest, the park his sprawling kingdom.
