Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Trouble at the Market

Ed, Layia, and Sofia enjoy their peaceful meal at the inn, but the quiet is soon broken by shouts from the town square. Angel Solis, Ed's guiding spirit, watches invisibly as trouble brews—a cart has overturned, and young children are in harm's way. Ed quickly steps in to help, showing kindness and bravery, while Layia rushes to help as well. Joshua, Catherine's former husband, stirs up trouble by blaming Ed for the chaos, but Ed defuses the situation with calm words. The chapter ends with the town grateful for Ed's help, while Angel Solis watches with pride, knowing Ed is one step closer to embracing his past and his new home.
