The storm had passed, leaving behind a world washed clean and glistening under a hesitant sun. But the familiar path, the one Nia had traced in her mind a thousand times, was gone. In its place, a chaotic jumble of uprooted trees, slick mud, and a new, unwelcome landmark: a boulder. It was immense, a sleeping giant of grey stone, its rough surface scarred by time and the recent deluge. It sat squarely in the middle of where the trail used to be, a silent, immovable sentinel guarding the way forward.

Nia stood before it, her small chest tight with a mixture of awe and frustration. This wasn't just a rock; it was a wall. Her gaze, which had always found the distant, beckoning summit, now felt trapped by this colossal obstacle. Doubt, a familiar whisper, began to stir within her. How could she possibly move something so vast? Her fingers traced the cool, damp surface of the boulder, its sheer immensity pressing down on her spirit. The wind, now a gentle sigh, seemed to carry the echoes of her grandmother’s voice. “Like the ancient oak, Nia, your strength isn't just in your height, but in the depth of your roots.”

Her parents, their faces etched with concern but their eyes unwavering in their support, stood a short distance behind her. Her father knelt beside her, his hand warm on her shoulder. “It’s a big one, isn’t it?” he said, his voice soft.
