Eve reveals the secret of Adam's two mothers: his soul was too powerful for one womb, so Sarah carried his body while Eve wove his soul. Kael then summons David Conners, a full-blooded vampire and head of the Conners clan, to train Adam in reflexes and mental defense. The chapter ends with David beginning Adam's training in the sacred grove.
The sacred grove lay quiet under the late afternoon sun, its ancient trees standing like silent sentinels. Adam stood at the center, his hand still holding Ally’s, the warmth of her life energy a steady pulse against his palm. Eve had led them here, her steps measured, her expression unreadable. Behind them, Kael, Sarah, and Lily formed a half-circle, their faces expectant.
Eve stopped before a massive oak whose roots twisted into the earth like veins. She turned to face Adam, her silver eyes holding something he had never seen there before—uncertainty.
“There is a secret I have kept from you,” Eve said, her voice low. “It is time you knew.”
