The demon lord descended like a falling star slowed to a crawl—massive wings, obsidian armor, eyes that burned with amber fire. When his feet touched the ground, the earth shuddered.
Kaito's power surged beneath his skin, a coiled spring begging to release. He forced it down. Not yet.
Captain Elara's voice cut through the stunned silence. "All units, defensive positions! Protect the ridge! Mages, barrier formation—now!"
