Chapter 10: The Test of Light
Kaito faces the demon lord alone on the ridge, using his max-level power to counter the demon's attacks. Hikari and Commander Aldric arrive mid-fight, with Aldric witnessing Kaito's true strength. The demon lord reveals he wants Kaito to help him break a curse, but before he can explain further, a new imperial force appears, led by a mage who recognizes Kaito's power as a threat. The chapter ends with the mage preparing to bind Kaito's magic permanently.
The darkness struck his palm like a hammer, and Kaito's feet skidded backward across the ridge. Light flared from his hand, dissolving the bolt into harmless sparks. His arm ached. That was just a test.
The demon lord tilted his head, a flicker of approval in those glittering eyes. “Good. You didn't flinch.”
“I didn't come here to get hit,” Kaito said, steadying his breathing. “I came to talk.”
