The air in the Queen’s hidden chamber, usually thick with the scent of dried herbs and aged parchment, now crackled with an almost palpable tension. Elara traced the faded symbols on the ancient scroll, her brow furrowed in concentration. Beside her, Queen Lyra’s gnarled fingers, usually steady as she spun tales or prepared potent remedies, trembled slightly as they hovered over the text. The flickering candlelight cast long, dancing shadows that seemed to twist the very words on the page into something more menacing.

“It speaks of a ‘star-fallen child,’ born under a fractured moon,” Lyra murmured, her voice a low, resonant hum that vibrated in Elara’s chest. “One who would bear the mark of the Sundered Realm, yet walk in the light of another world. One who would… ‘unravel the knots of despair and reweave the tapestry of unity.’”

Elara swallowed, the words feeling both impossibly grand and strangely familiar. A star-fallen child. Born under a fractured moon. She’d always been drawn to the night sky, and her birth had indeed coincided with a rare lunar eclipse, a detail her parents had mentioned in passing, dismissing it as mere coincidence. “And the mark?” she asked, her own voice barely a whisper. “What mark are we talking about?”
