Chapter 13
A Confrontation in the Kitchen
Elara and Silas converge at an abandoned artisan kitchen, both following separate clues. A tense standoff occurs as Silas demands Elara reveal what she knows, convinced she's hiding a physical ingredient.
The air in the abandoned artisan kitchen hung thick with the ghosts of forgotten meals. Dust motes danced in the slivers of moonlight that pierced the grimy windows, illuminating a space that had once pulsed with the vibrant energy of creation. Elara had hoped, with a desperate, naive hope, that she might have outmaneuvered him, that the trail of obscure historical references and whispered legends she had painstakingly pieced together would have led her here first, and alone.
