Chapter 8
The guards move in, and Soo-jin, Jae-won, and Aria escape through the tunnels with the folder. Min-hyuk hesitates, then helps them evade the Emperor's men, but a trap forces them to split up. Soo-jin and Jae-won are cornered in the old library, and the Emperor's voice orders their capture.
The guards lunged. Soo-jin moved on instinct, her knife flashing in the dim emergency light. She caught the first guard's arm, twisted, and sent him crashing into a shelf. Books rained down, a thunder of leather and dust.
"This way!" Jae-won grabbed her wrist, pulling her toward the far end of the aisle. Aria was already running, Leo's journal clutched to her chest.
Min-hyuk stood frozen, his phone still glowing in his hand. His face was a mask of indecision.
