Chapter 8
The Twins' Mischief and Aid
Finn and Fae, the mischievous twins, stumble upon Randy. Their playful curiosity soon turns into genuine support, offering unexpected help and insights.
The air in the archives, usually thick with the scent of ancient parchment and forgotten spells, seemed to crackle with a different kind of energy today. It was the restless hum of mischief, a familiar tune that usually announced the arrival of Finn and Fae, the resident chaos twins of the 700-story mansion. Today, however, their brand of chaos had a peculiar edge, a subtle undercurrent of purpose that even I, the perpetually bewildered Randy, couldn't quite place.
I was hunched over a brittle, leather-bound tome, tracing a faded inscription with a fingertip, trying to decipher its meaning. The last clue from the archives had pointed me towards the forgotten lore of the Sunken City, a place whispered about in hushed tones, a cautionary tale for young mages. But the thought of that sword, of a power that might finally silence the whispers of ‘magicless’ that followed me like a shroud, kept me going.
Suddenly, a blur of motion and a burst of giggles erupted from behind a towering shelf of scrolls. Before I could even react, two small figures tumbled out, landing with surprisingly agile grace on the dusty floor. Finn, with his perpetually tousled brown hair and a grin that promised trouble, was dusting himself off. Beside him, Fae, her bright eyes sparkling with amusement, mirrored his grin. They were identical, these two, not just in looks but in their shared, boundless energy.
