Chapter 16
Confronting the Past
Armed with the truth about Becky and their son, Samuel confronts his father, Mr. Solomon Adedeji. The confrontation is intense, forcing the patriarch to face the repercussions of his pride and his rigid adherence to tradition. Samuel lays bare the pain he has caused Becky and the life they have built apart. Mr. Adedeji, perhaps prompted by Samuel’s unwavering conviction or a buried memory of his own past failures, begins a slow, reluctant process of re-evaluation. He starts to question the true cost of maintaining his legacy at the expense of his son's happiness.
The air in Mr. Solomon Adedeji’s opulent study was thick, not with the usual scent of expensive leather and aged whiskey, but with the suffocating weight of unspoken truths and years of simmering resentment. Mr. Adedeji, a man carved from granite and steeped in the traditions of the Adedeji empire, looked up from the ledger he was perusing. His gaze, sharp and assessing, swept over Samuel, a flicker of impatience in his eyes. “I thought we had concluded this discussion, Samuel. Your… attachment to that young woman was ill-advised, and I made my position clear.”
