Ren sat with the sketchbook open on their lap, the pages a familiar comfort yet suddenly imbued with a chilling new significance. The ink on the current spread, depicting Coco and Bobo standing defiantly against a swirling, inky darkness, seemed to pulse with a life of its own. It was a battle Ren had drawn with a fierce determination, a desperate attempt to push back the encroaching gloom.
