Greg and his friends descend the spiral staircase into the Hollow of Beginnings, where they find a pool of shadow and a stump. A shadow creature emerges, but by working together and showing kindness, they plant the seed. The seed begins to grow, pushing back the darkness, but a new tunnel opens beneath them, hinting at a deeper darkness yet to be faced.
The spiral staircase of roots wound deeper into the earth, each step creaking under Greg's paws. The glowing seed in his grasp pulsed with a soft, steady light, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Squeaky bounded ahead, his bushy tail flicking with excitement. Thumper followed close behind, her ears twitching at every sound. Mortimer brought up the rear, his claws scraping against the roots.
"How much farther?" Squeaky asked, his voice echoing in the narrow tunnel.
"The tree said the Hollow of Beginnings is at the very center of the woods," Greg replied. "I think we're almost there. The air feels different."
