The Third Spark
Elara and Luca rest beneath the ancient tree, then follow the book's guidance toward a distant village. They are joined by a mysterious girl named Sofia, who reveals she too feels the fire. Brother Thomas closes in, but the three escape into an underground passage, setting the stage for the next step of their journey.
Elara caught her breath, her back pressed against the rough bark of the ancient tree. Beside her, Luca was still panting, his face pale in the dim light. The book rested in her lap, its glow soft and steady now, like a heartbeat that had found its rhythm.
“We made it,” Luca whispered, peering through the tangle of roots. “But they’ll keep looking. Brother Thomas won’t give up.”
Elara nodded. She opened the book again, tracing the golden words that had appeared: The fire is now two. Find the third, and the truth will become a flame that cannot be hidden.
