The Choice of the Flame
Elara faces the Vatican guard blocking the sixth spark. She uses the fire within to convince him to let her pass, but Brother Thomas arrives and a struggle ensues. Elara chooses to take the spark, which reveals a hidden passage and a new challenge: the Vatican's bells begin to ring, summoning more guards.
The guard's hand tightened on his sword, his eyes fixed on Elara. Behind her, the others stood frozen, the sound of Brother Thomas's boots growing louder on the stairs. The sixth spark flickered on the altar, its small flame casting long shadows across the stone walls.
Elara took another step forward, her heart pounding but her voice steady. "Please, we mean no harm. We only seek the flame."
The guard shook his head. "Brother Thomas warned me about you. Heretics who twist the sacred texts. The sixth spark is not for you."
