Elara and her friends reunite with Elder Maeve beside an underground lake. Maeve reveals she escaped through the tunnels and knows the location of the sixth spark—the Vatican's hidden heart. They cross the lake, but Brother Thomas and guards arrive at the entrance, forcing them to flee into a narrow passage that leads to a chamber with a central flame. The flame flickers as if waiting, and a shadow moves behind it, setting up the next challenge.
For a long moment, no one moved. The underground lake stretched before them, dark and still, its surface reflecting the single flame on the far shore like a mirror of polished obsidian. Elder Maeve stood beside the brazier, her silver hair catching the light, her face serene but tired.
Lina’s flame flickered with surprise. “Elder Maeve? How did you—?”
Elara stepped forward, her boots splashing in the shallow water at the edge of the cavern. “You’re alive. Brother Thomas… he didn’t—”
