Julian’s reach is longer than we thought.” He pulled her closer, his breath warm against her hair. “But it doesn’t change our plan, Elara. It just means we have to be smarter.”

Their escape had been a blur of adrenaline and whispered instructions. Slipping out of the sprawling estate under the cloak of a moonless night, they’d left behind the gilded cage, but the bars, Elara knew, were still there, waiting. The evidence they’d managed to secure – a digital trail of Julian’s offshore accounts, coded communications hinting at his illicit dealings, and the damning confession from her mother – felt like a fragile shield against a much larger, more dangerous threat.
