From then on I started writing songs and doing a small business to support the family
The morning light crept through the thin curtains of our small apartment, casting a golden hue over the crib where our son slept peacefully. I watched him for a long moment, his tiny chest rising and falling with each breath, before I quietly slipped out of bed and padded into the kitchen. My son's father was already there, nursing a cup of coffee, his eyes tired but warm.
"Morning," he said softly, reaching out to touch my hand as I passed.
I smiled, but my mind was already spinning with numbers. School was in a few weeks. The grocery bills had crept up again. And our son needed new shoes—his little toes were practically poking through the ones he had. I had been lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling, feeling the weight of it all pressing down on my chest.
