The day I walked out of those school gates for the last time, I felt the weight of a thousand eyes on my back. Some were pitying, others judgmental, and a few—the ones that stung the most—were simply disappointed. I told myself I didn't care. I had my son, my partner, and a future we were building together. That was enough. It had to be.

But the silence that followed was louder than any classroom chatter. Days blurred into a rhythm of feedings, diaper changes, and sleepless nights. My mother would call, her voice tight with unspoken worry, asking if I had thought about finishing my education. I’d mumble something vague and change the subject. The truth was, I hadn’t let myself think about it. The door had closed, and I was too tired to look for another.

Then came that Tuesday morning.
