Chapter 11
The Weaver's Thread
Mr. Abernathy reveals a connection between their family and the Rewop Thing, suggesting it was meant for them. A sense of destiny begins to dawn.
The air in Mr. Abernathy’s shop, usually thick with the comforting scent of aged paper and beeswax polish, now seemed to hum with an unspoken tension. Dust motes danced in the slivers of sunlight that pierced the gloom, illuminating stacks of forgotten books and curiosities that whispered tales of bygone eras. Sarah, usually unfazed by the shop’s peculiar charm, felt a prickle of unease crawl up her spine. I’ve only ever seen them depicted in texts so ancient, they crumble to dust at a mere breath.”
Sarah shifted her weight, her gaze darting between the symbols and Mr. Abernathy’s inscrutable face. “The Unwoven?” she echoed, the name sounding both fantastical and vaguely unsettling. “What does that mean?”
