Milano watched Kiara, his heart a tangled mess of guilt and a fierce, burgeoning love. Her words, sharp as shards of glass, had cut deep, leaving him reeling. He had hurt her, undeniably, and the realization was a bitter pill. He saw the hurt in her eyes, the wariness that had become a constant companion. He had promised to protect her, and in his own selfish need, he had failed.

"Kiara," he began, his voice rough, "I… I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just… this is new for me. Loving someone, wanting a family. My family, they… they don't do 'gentle.' But that doesn't excuse my actions. I was wrong." He reached out, his hand hovering, unsure if it would be accepted. "I want to be a good father. I want to learn. Teach me, Kiara. Teach me how to love you, how to be the man you deserve."

Kiara looked at him, her tears still shimmering. His sincerity, raw and unvarnished, chipped away at her anger. She saw the struggle in his eyes, the genuine desire to do better. She had been so quick to lash out, fueled by fear and past trauma. He hadn't intended to cause her pain, not truly. He was learning, just as she was.
