Chapter 6
The Attic Box
Klarina returns home with the key and opens the hidden box in the attic, discovering a stack of unsent letters and a final self-portrait from her mother Elena. Through the letters, she understands Elena's love and regret. Klarina learns that the unknown text messages were from Jonas, who guided her without revealing himself. She finds closure and begins writing her mother's story, realizing the true gold is the enduring light of memory and love.
The drive back from Palanga was quiet. Marius strummed softly on his guitar in the passenger seat, the melody mixing with the hum of the engine. Klarina held the small key in her palm, its weight light but its meaning immense. The painting lay wrapped in cloth on the back seat, and the journal sat beside her, a testament to her mother's final journey.
"What do you think is in the attic?" Marius asked, breaking the silence.
"I don't know. But it's the last piece. The box my mother mentioned in the note."
