Chapter 10
The Lieutenant's Gambit
The lieutenant puts his plan into motion. It's a risky operation, requiring precision and the unwavering trust of the YNs involved. Success means a significant advantage.
The air in the abandoned warehouse hung thick and heavy, a miasma of stale concrete dust and the metallic tang of fear. Moonlight, fractured by grimy panes of glass high overhead, painted shifting, spectral patterns across the rows of shadowed figures. They were the YNs, Capone’s most trusted, their faces a mosaic of grim determination, illuminated by the cold, hard gleam of their eyes. Dead wrong.”
He gestured towards a table laden with maps, meticulously marked with red Xs and blue circles. “This is it. The heart of his operation. The supply line that keeps his whole damn army fed and armed. We hit this, we don’t just wound him, we cripple him. We choke him.” He pointed to a specific intersection, a nexus of streets marked for their strategic importance. “This is where it happens. A convoy. Moving at precisely 0200 hours. They’ll be expecting trouble, but they won’t be expecting this.”
