Save a Penny
Trevor and Emma sneak into where his daughter is being held. After they are discovered he causes a distraction so Emma can rescue Penny.
The sterile, fluorescent hum of the Vera Tek research facility pressed in on Emma and Trevor, a stark contrast to the city's usual cacophony. They moved through the darkened corridors like shadows, each breath held tight in their chests. Trevor, usually so boisterous, was a coiled spring of nervous energy, his usual swagger replaced by a grim determination. Emma, her heart hammering against her ribs, mirrored his tension, her long dark hair pulled back in its customary ponytail, a dark, sleek banner against the oppressive white walls.
"This is insane, Trevor," Emma whispered, her voice barely carrying over the hum. "We're breaking into a secure government-contracted facility. If we're caught..."
"We won't be," Trevor replied, his gaze fixed on the digital lock of a reinforced door. "Not if we're fast. And silent." He pulled a slim electronic device from his jacket, its screen glowing with complex schematics. "Penny's in sector Gamma. They must have moved her after that… incident at the park."
