The air in Mr. Kazys's small, book-lined office hummed with a quiet reverence, much like the hushed aisles of the library itself. Sunlight, softened by the dusty panes, painted golden stripes across the worn wooden floor. Elara sat opposite him, her small hands clasped tightly in her lap, the familiar weight of the wooden beads a comforting presence against her chest. She had shown them to Mr. Kazys, the faint glow, the strange symbols that flickered into existence when she held them just so. He hadn't dismissed her, not even a flicker of doubt in his kind, crinkled eyes. Instead, he had listened, his head tilted, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
"These beads," Mr. Kazys began, his voice a soft rumble, like distant thunder, "they are more than just a beautiful reminder of your grandmother, Elara. They are a key."
