The night air smelled of damp earth and pine as Agnė, Viktorija, and Jonas walked through the trees, surrounded by the silent figures holding flashlights. Lina led the way, her steps sure and unhurried. The beams of light cut through the darkness, revealing glimpses of mossy stones and twisted roots. Agnė's heart pounded, but she forced herself to keep moving, her hand still clutching the box of documents she had carried from the cellar. She had not let it go, even when the followers closed in.
"Where are you taking us?" Viktorija demanded, her voice sharp.
Lina did not turn. "To the place where it all began. Where it will begin again."
