Kaelen, Laura, Ignis, Aurum, and Grit journey to Ashen Hall, where they discover the source of the distant threat: a remnant of the shadow woman's corruption. They cleanse the ruin, return to the sanctuary, and celebrate with a grand feast and wedding, concluding their adventure.
The morning air carried the smell of dew and bacon. Kaelen stood by the stable, adjusting Ignis’s saddle, while Laura packed dried meat and bread into a leather satchel. Grit ran in circles, occasionally stopping to sniff a rock as if it held the secrets of the universe.
“He’s going to be insufferable the whole way,” Laura said, tying the satchel closed.
“He’s always insufferable. At least he’s consistent.”
