They talk about me, they laugh, they share secrets, and I’m in the middle of it, nodding along, but there’s this gnawing emptiness. It’s a circle, Pastor, a constant circle of faces I’ve never met in the waking world, yet they feel like… like my tribe.”

Pastor David nodded slowly, his eyes, pools of gentle wisdom, met mine. He steepled his fingers, his gaze thoughtful. “The circle of friends in the dream,” he murmured, his voice a low rumble. “A subtle yet potent snare, Anya. It’s designed to create a false sense of belonging, to anchor you firmly in the spirit realm while subtly eroding your connections in the physical.”
