The night was a canvas of deepest indigo, pricked with a million diamond-dust stars. Elara, nestled beside her mother on the soft grass of their backyard, traced the curve of the Big Dipper with a fingertip. The air was cool and carried the scent of damp earth and distant honeysuckle. Just moments before, they had been lost in the dizzying expanse of galaxies, Elara’s questions about dark matter swirling around them like a gentle nebula. Now, a different kind of quiet had settled, a comfortable silence born of shared wonder.
Aurora smoothed a stray curl from Elara’s forehead. "You know," she began, her voice a low hum, "sometimes when we look up at all that, at everything so big and old, it makes you think about how small we are."
Elara tilted her head, her eyes, wide and luminous in the starlight, fixed on her mother. "But we’re not that small, are we? We’re made of stardust, you said. So we’re part of it all."
