Kira struggles with fear after William sends a text and leaves a note on her car. Carol calls the police, but the lack of explicit threats limits action. A new message revealing William's knowledge of her family escalates the tension. Kira is left shaken, questioning how much he knows.
Kira stared at the phone, the text glowing like a warning light. I enjoyed our talk. Let’s do it again soon. The words seemed innocent enough, but they carried a weight that pressed against her chest. She set the phone face-down on the coffee table and tried to focus on the television, where a laugh track played from a show she wasn’t watching.
Her mother came in from the kitchen, drying her hands on a dish towel. “Everything okay, sweetie? You look pale.”
“Just tired,” Kira said. She forced a smile. “I think I’ll head to bed early.”
