The air in the hidden sanctuary still hummed with the residual energy of our escape. It was a strange feeling, like the quiet after a storm, thick with the scent of ozone and the lingering fear that clung to us like damp clothes. My parents, Yuji and Nobara, were tending to some unseen wounds, their faces etched with a weariness that went beyond physical exhaustion. I sat on a rough-hewn wooden bench, the rough grain a stark contrast to the polished surfaces of our old life, and tried to process the impossible.

“So, you’re saying,” I started, my voice a little shaky, “that this… sorcerer world… they’re scared of me?”

Nobara sighed, her usually sharp eyes softened with a familiar maternal concern. She ran a hand through her fiery red hair, a gesture I’d seen a thousand times when she was deep in thought. “Not just scared, David. They see you as a threat. An imbalance. Your power… it’s unlike anything they’ve encountered.”
