The walls here were not plaster and lath, but a dense, interwoven tapestry of thick, woody tendrils. They pulsed with a slow, rhythmic thrum, a subterranean heartbeat that resonated in her bones. It was here, in this earthy womb, that the whispers intensified, not as distinct voices, but as a pressure, a vast, ancient consciousness pressing in on her own.
