The air crackled, thick with the scent of night-blooming jasmine and something else… something sharp and metallic, like a thousand tiny needles pricking my skin. The Spooky Moon, a bruised plum against the inky sky, pulsed with a malevolent glow, its shadow stretching like a greedy hand towards our village. I clutched the satchel, its rough burlap scratching my palms, filled with the Lumina Petals. They shimmered even in the dim light, each one a captured star. Baby Blue Bears and Russo Baby Bears, usually a whirlwind of yaps and wiggles, were unnervingly still, their tiny bodies vibrating with a tension that mirrored my own.

"Okay, boys," I whispered, my voice a shaky thread. "This is it."

They didn't bark. They didn't even twitch their ears. Instead, Baby Blue Bears let out a low, rumbling growl, a sound so deep and resonant coming from such a small creature it was almost comical. Russo Baby Bears nudged my hand with his wet nose, his dark eyes fixed on the monstrous moon. It was as if they understood. They weren't just my embarrassing, yappy companions anymore. They were… ready.
