Chapter 19
Baking a New Future
Leo starts to envision a future where his past is a lesson learned, not a life sentence. He begins to integrate the lessons of the bakery into his own life.

He’d simply shown me, his gnarled hands moving with a practiced grace that belied his age, how to shape a loaf, how to coax the best out of simple ingredients.
“You’re getting good, Leo,” he said, his voice a low rumble, like distant thunder.
