It had been weeks since the first triumphant rumble of the V8, weeks of relentless testing, of pushing the aperture valve to its limits. Evelyn, her brow furrowed in concentration, leaned over a monitor displaying a dizzying array of real-time engine data. Beside her, Ben meticulously tightened a bolt on the engine block, his movements economical and precise, a stark contrast to the frantic energy that often buzzed around their small startup. Maya, perched on a stool, her fingers flying across her keyboard, was the maestro of the digital symphony, coaxing the valve’s intricate dance into perfect harmony.
"Power output is still strong," Evelyn murmured, her voice tight with a familiar blend of hope and apprehension. "Fuel efficiency is… better than stock, but not the leap we predicted. And the thermal imaging shows… hot spots. Definitely hot spots."
Ben grunted, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. "Hot spots ain't good, Ev. Means something's not happy in there. We've been babying it, too. This ain't real-world driving. This is a controlled environment." He gestured to the engine, a beast of polished metal and intricate wiring, its aperture valve a delicate, almost artistic centerpiece amidst the brute force.
