Aaron learns from the Keeper that Silas was once her apprentice and helped set the Umbra Lord's fall in motion, but the true orchestrator is the shadow demon lord who created Aaron's hybrid curse. The Keeper warns that the lord is gathering power to return, and Aaron must decide whether to trust Silas or confront his past.

The tower's stone walls seemed to close in around Aaron as the Keeper's words settled like a stone in his chest. The shadow within him stirred, a dark anticipation that made his skin crawl. He stared at Silas, whose weathered face had gone pale, his calm demeanor shattered by the Keeper's revelation.
"Silas," Aaron said, his voice low and tight, "tell me she's wrong."
