Chapter 10: The Sunken Temple
Aaron, Lyra, and Morwen enter the Sunken Temple in the Crimson Wastes, facing traps and shadow demons. They find the Heartstone but are confronted by the Umbra Lord's avatar. Aaron struggles with the shadow's influence, but Lyra's hidden magic helps them escape with the Heartstone. The chapter ends with the Umbra Lord's promise of pursuit and Aaron's growing resolve.
The Sunken Temple loomed before them, a dark silhouette against the crimson sky. Its walls were carved from black stone, covered in ancient runes that pulsed with a faint, sickly light. The air around it shimmered with heat, and the ground trembled underfoot as if the earth itself was alive.
Aaron led the way, his hand resting on the hilt of his shadow-forged blade. Lyra walked beside him, her bow half-drawn, her eyes scanning every shadow. Morwen brought up the rear, her staff glowing with a soft blue light that pushed back the darkness.
"Stay alert," Morwen said. "The temple is old, and the Umbra Lord's servants will have fortified it."
