The morning after the binding, Magical Falls felt different. Elara stood at the edge of the water, watching the mist rise like breath from the stone. The bond inside her chest no longer burned—it hummed, a low and steady note that matched the rhythm of the falls. She pressed a hand to her sternum and felt the fragment there, still warm, still hers, but changed.
Mira sat on a nearby boulder, her crescent mark faintly glowing beneath her sleeve. She had not spoken much since the ritual, but her eyes held a new depth. Every now and then, she would blink slowly, as if listening to something far away.
“It’s quiet today,” Lyra said, walking up with a basket of bread and fruit. She set it down on a flat rock and sat cross-legged beside Elara. “No reporters. No Council summons. Almost peaceful.”
