The air here was thick, a miasma of decay and despair that clung to my spectral form like a shroud. It was a hell I knew, a twisted echo of the Black Woods, but amplified, festering. The mutilated animals were no longer just a chilling sight; their spectral forms flickered at the edges of my vision, their silent screams a constant thrum beneath the surface of this grim reality. And she… she was always there. The ghostly girl, no longer a fleeting specter, but a constant, suffocating presence.

I’d tried to outrun her, even in this afterlife. I’d darted through the spectral trees, the familiar paths of the Black Woods now a labyrinth of torment. But no matter how fast I moved, no matter how deep I plunged into the oppressive gloom, I could feel her. A cold dread that prickled my non-existent skin, a certainty that she was right behind me, her ragged breath a whisper against my spectral neck.

In life, her growl had been a sound I heard, a phantom menace from the woods. Here, it was a part of me, a low, guttural rumble that seemed to emanate from the very core of this place, and from her. It grew louder each time I acknowledged her, each time my gaze lingered on her tattered dress, her vacant, accusing eyes. I could feel her desperation, her rage, her sorrow. It was a potent cocktail, and it was directed squarely at me.
