Sir Reginald's Strategy Session
With the gnomes growing bolder, Elara confides in her hamster, Sir Reginald Fluffernutter. They brainstorm ways to undo the pact before the town succumbs to absurdity.
Elara slumped onto the floral armchair, the faded chintz sighing beneath her weight. Outside, the late afternoon sun cast long, dramatic shadows across Willow Creek, shadows that seemed to stretch and wiggle with a life of their own. It was getting worse, much worse. Yesterday, Mrs. Higgins’ prize-winning petunias had been found meticulously braided into tiny pigtails. The day before, the town clock had chimed backwards for three hours, causing a delightful wave of confusion and several missed appointments. And the gnomes… oh, the gnomes. They were now sporting miniature monocles and demanding tiny cucumber sandwiches. It was all too much.
"Reginald," Elara announced, her voice heavy with the weight of impending gnome-related anarchy, "we have a situation."
From his ornate, albeit slightly chewed, hamster cage, Sir Reginald Fluffernutter twitched his nose. He was a creature of discerning taste, a connoisseur of sunflower seeds and a surprisingly astute observer of human (and gnome) folly. He blinked his beady black eyes at Elara, a silent question hanging in the air.
