Chapter 4
Elara, perched precariously on a stack of dusty encyclopedias that smelled faintly of lavender and forgotten dreams, reread the scribbled words in the teacup diary. "To make Willow Creek the most special place, for all time, no matter what!" The ink, a faded sepia that looked like dried tea, seemed to pulse with a strange energy. “No matter what,” she murmured, her brow furrowed. That little phrase was the culprit, wasn't it? Like adding too much glitter to a drawing – at first it’s sparkly and fun, but then it gets everywhere and you can’t get rid of it.
