Chapter 9: The Whisper of Stars
The Space Hunters regroup after the moon mission. While heading toward the planet where Kenny's father is held, they encounter a cosmic space whale carrying a message from Kenny's mother. The whale leads them to an asteroid base where Kenny receives a holographic recording from his mother explaining that his father's coma is a self-imposed defense and that Kenny must fully awaken his powers to save him. They also learn that Vexara is already on her way to the same planet. The chapter ends with the crew setting a course to intercept her.
The transport hummed as it punched through the debris field, leaving the shattered moon behind. Inside, the air was thick with exhaustion and relief. Kenny sat slumped against the bulkhead, his golden energy flickering like a dying candle. Beside him, Crane cradled Lira, who had fallen into a deep, peaceful sleep. Her face, no longer twisted by the Hive's influence, looked almost serene.
Crane glanced at Kenny. "You did good, kid. Better than good."
Kenny managed a weak smile. "I just... reacted. I don't really know how I did it."
