Kenny and Crane land on the moon, where they find a hidden Hive base. Crane's wife, Lira, is being used as a host for the Hive queen's consciousness. Kenny uses his golden energy to free her, but the queen escapes. Lira reveals that Kenny's father is in a coma on a nearby planet, and the Hive plans to use him as leverage. The chapter ends with Kenny vowing to save his father, while Hive forces close in.
The transport shuddered as it punched through the storm's upper atmosphere. Kenny gripped the edge of his seat, the golden energy still humming under his skin. Beside him, Crane piloted with grim focus, his knuckles white on the controls.
"How long until we reach the moon?" Kenny asked.
"Five minutes. Maybe less if the Hive doesn't shoot us down."
