Chapter 15
The Museum's Door
Leo and Arthur decide the spaceship and the story of their journey deserve to be shared. They approach the local science museum, eager to inspire others with their tale of adventure and discovery.
The old station wagon, a familiar rumble against the asphalt, carried Leo and his dad towards the grand, stone edifice of the city’s science museum. Sunlight dappled through the trees lining the parkway, casting dancing patterns on the dashboard where a small, carefully wrapped package rested. Inside, nestled amongst soft cloth, was a single, luminous petal, still holding a faint, ethereal glow. Beside it, almost dwarfed by its presence, sat a small, intricately carved wooden bird, a parting gift from Zylos. Leo’s heart swelled with a mixture of pride and a touch of melancholy. He clutched the polished wooden bird, its smooth surface cool against his palm.
“Ready, Dad?” Leo’s voice was a little shaky, a tremor of excitement and nervousness running through it. He’d spent so many hours dreaming of this moment, of sharing the impossible with the world, and now it was here.
Arthur glanced over, his smile warm and reassuring. “As ready as we’ll ever be, champ. Remember, it’s not just about the ship, or the flower. It’s about the journey, the courage it took, and the wonder of what’s out there.” He squeezed Leo’s knee, his touch grounding. He, too, felt the weight of their secret, the incredible truth of their adventure, and the hope that it would ignite the same spark in others. He’d hidden his own flicker of doubt about venturing so far, but seeing Leo’s unwavering resolve had pushed him forward, just as the ship had pushed them beyond the stars.
